Glorious Achievements of Yuantong High School in Mafeteng District Science Fair
Mafeteng District Science Fair was held in Mt. Tabor High School this year, where the top two schools in every region of Mafeteng participated in. Seeing the outstanding performance in the regional fair, Yuantong High School made it to take part in the finals.
As competent participants of this fair, our students' vision is expended, knowledge is increased, and creativity is stirred after the enlightenment from the students of Taipei Jingmei Girl High School and Asia University, Taiwan, whose delicate guidance and tender accompanying during their visit is profoundly appreciated.
Not only the eight participants but the rest of Form A and Form B's students attended this fair for all of them will benefit from it.
As to the result of this fair, Tianyu, Tianze, and Dichang won the first prize with their research of camera in the category Working Model, in which the wind-powered car researched by Diqi and Tianzhao won the second price. It is pity that rocket and the home-made light bulb only made it to the fourth position due to not exactly conforming to the rules of the fair. Last but not the least, the electricity-testing pen independently researched by Tianxing won the first price in the category Electronics.
About attending this fair, “these research results improve students' performance of studying the subjects concerned,” indicates Ms. Khakahali, the Math teacher of Yuantong high school. Furthermore, students learned self-expression, science terminology, interaction and competition with students of other schools, which made them getting interested in pursuing their science career. In this fair, students learned how to concretize the theory and compose the research reports, enhanced the ability of interpersonal relationship, sharpened their thoughts, and reflected on what they have learnt so far. These students are expected to keep improving their academic abilities and perform better in Math and Sesotho in the future, which makes it possible for them to attend Eskom Expo in South Africa next year.
